Commercial - New Construction

  1. TWO (2) SETS OF PLANS with a live stamp and signature by a Louisiana Architect or Engineer.

  2. Approval letter from the State Fire Marshall's Office. Contact 1-800-256-5452

  3. Construction approval from the Department of Wastewater Operations (Veolia Water) Pretreatment Program if construction will include: 1) A grease trap, 2) Oil-Water separator, 3) Mud or sand trap, 4) Car repair shop or body shop, 5) Laundromat, or 6) any process that will involve the discharge of sewerage other than domestic, household waste.   4. Licensed plumber must call Veolia Water for first and final sewer connection inspection. Call 504-468-7292 for more information.

  5. SEWER TIE-IN CERTIFICATE with verification that sewerage is available to your site. This is obtainable from the City's Wastewater Operations Office (Veolia Water) at #1 West 30th Street, Kenner, Louisiana, 468-7292.

  6. RE-SUBDIVISION of property, if necessary. Check with the Planning Department, 468-7280.

  7. ONE (1) BENCHMARK CERTIFICATE and PROPERTY SURVEY, obtainable from any surveyor. Prior to final inspection, the Final Grade Certificate must be on a FEMA approved form and all applicable sections must be filled out.

  8. COPY OF DUMPSTER CONTRACT must be presented to our office before a building permit is issued. The dumpster must be in place on the job site. The dumpster shall be emptied as needed.

  9. You must obtain verification that a water meter can be located at your site. This is obtainable from the Jefferson Parish Department of Engineering Utilities Division, located at Suite 801, Yenni Building, 1221 Elmwood Parkway, Jefferson, Louisiana 70123. One (1) set of plans and a site plan must be submitted to the department.

  10. If property is bounded by any Parish Street or Parish right-of-way, a site plan must be submitted to and approved by the Jefferson Parish Public Works Department, Suite 802, Yenni Building, 1221 Elmwood Parkway, Jefferson, Louisiana 70123. If property is bounded by a State roadway (Airline Drive, Williams Boulevard, Jefferson Highway, Alliance Street) a site plan must be submitted and approved by the Department of Transportation and Development, P.O. Box 9180, Bridge City, Louisiana 70094 - 437-3100, 437-3130.

  11. Property is larger than a 1/4 of an acre and the City of Kenner requires subsurface drainage to be provided. Drainage of property shall not direct water into adjacent properties. Design for ponding. Submit drainage calculations; drain lines and drain sizes and locations. Submit three sets of site drainage drawings and calculations to the director at Public Works at 468-4081. One set, with his signature, shall be submitted to Code Enforcement Commercial Plan Reviewer.

A BUILDING PERMIT CANNOT BE ISSUED UNTIL ALL OF THE ABOVE HAVE BEEN COMPLETED.
