OUTSTANDING KENNER EMPLOYEES FOR JUNE 2010
DURING A MEETING OF CITY DEPARTMENT HEADS the afternoon of July 21, Mayor Michael S. Yenni (left) presented certificates of merit designating Scott Brousssard (second from left), a landscape architect in the Planning Department, and Michael Ince (third from left), grants manager for the city and assigned to the Planning Department, as outstanding employees for the month of June 2010. At right is Planning Director Jay Hebert. Broussard was cited for personally continuing a program to inventory Kenner’s publicly-owned trees after grant monies for the project were temporarily suspended. Of the city’s estimated 3,500 trees, Broussard inventoried 2,010 of them – examining them, documenting their species, locations, sizes, conditions and immediate maintenance needs and entering the information into an electronic data base – a task described as outstanding. Ince was cited for his diligent efforts in Kenner being awarded $17,500 in grants from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and from the State of Louisiana to assist in preservation of the historic old Kenner High School in the 1500 block of Rev. Richard Wilson Drive. Grants were awarded for conducting cost feasibility studies and compiling a report on the structural integrity of the building which is now on the National Register of Historic Places.

OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEES FOR MAY 2010 HONORED
DURING A MEETING of city department directors the afternoon of June 16, Shantel Miller, a program coordinator for the Department of Community Development is presented a certificate designating her as Kenner Outstanding Employee of the Month for May 2010 by Mayor Ed Muniz and Community Development Director Arleeta Terrell. Miller was cited for her forward thinking and ability to work with little or no supervision, while offering advice and instructions to co-workers. Miller was praised for trying to improve her work performance and productivity and, in a short time, learning federal regulations that govern department programs. She manages housing and utility assistance programs, coordinated Night Out Against Crime and energy awareness projects and effectively responds to citizen needs. Congratulations!
OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEES FOR APRIL 2010 HONORED
DURING A DIRECTORS’ MEETING Wednesday, May 19, CEO Mike Yenni (left) presented certificates of achievement to Patricia Carreca of the Community Services Department and James Mohamad of the Code Enforcement Department designating them as Outstanding Employees of April, 2010. Carreca, who handles school field trips and camps at Rivertown museums, the Children’s Castle and Planetarium, was cited for her dedication, always being on time and knowing how to perform and promote projects properly and in a timely manner… Mohamad was described as an exceptional worker with a good personality and who performed many distasteful tasks without question, became a team player and who, on his own, sought training that resulted in his earning eight certifications in four years in the areas of residential and commercial building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical inspection to become a valuable asset to the city. Congratulations to them both.
KENNER’S ART-A-CURE BREAKS FUND RAISING RECORD

| MORE THAN $7,000 was raised the night of March 24, 2010, when Kenner’s Community Volunteer Committee sponsored its third annual Art-A-Cure at the City Park Pavilion for the benefit of the American Cancer Society. More than 150 persons attended to sample several types of tasty finger food; a chance to join in a silent auction on an assortment of arts, crafts and unusual items, and take part in a live bidding session for sought-after fine arts from among paintings, prints, ceramics and other fine art works donated by the popular area artists who created them. The total raised was $7,038

Outstanding Employees for February 2010

DURING A MEETING OF department heads on March 17, 2010, certificates for outstanding employees of the month of February were presented by Mayor Ed Muniz to Cynthia Miller (left) and Barbara Krupp. Miller, a clerk in the Purchasing Department, was cited for her attention to detail in her work, her conscientiousness, being a stickler for accurate details in her work and going beyond the call of duty to get a job done. Miller cares about those she works with and that caring is extended by her service on the City Volunteer Committee that raises funds for civic service projects. Krupp, a secretary in the Community Services Department, was cited for the departmental knowledge she brings to her job, being a self starter, her ability as a team player, and her reliability. She amassed a perfect attendance record over 23 years with the city and always performs tasks quickly, accurately and with an ever-present smile. When out on vacation, she leaves full notes and instructions on projects underway or due for completion while she is gone. Congratulations to Miller and Krupp.
Outstanding Employees for January 2010

DURING A MEETING OF city department heads Wednesday, February 17, CAO Mike Quigley (center) confers certificates on Norma Riley (left) and BernaDean Bordelon (right) as Outstanding Employees of the Month for January, 2010. Bordelon, an Assistant Planner II who has worked for Kenner for 30 years, was cited for developing invaluable knowledge and insight that is reflected in her dedication to providing quality public service. She also serves as secretary to the Board of Zoning Adjustments and is credited with routinely going above and beyond what is required of her duties. Riley, a building monitor at the Hispanic Resource Center was honored for being a model employee who is courteous and respectful toward co-workers and the public; puts 100 percent effort toward job duties; makes everyone who visits the resource center feel special, and is a true team player and back up person at the Splash Park. She is always willing to assist in the center's After School Program. When assigned to weekend work, she arrives early and never hesitates to do her part. Congratulations to BernaDean and Norma.


HEIDI RANSOM, OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR, 2009

PRIOR TO THE START OF THE City Council meeting the night of February 4, Heidi Ransom, center, was announced as Kenner's Outstanding Employee of the Year for 2009. Ransom is coordinator of the Roussel Planetarium in Kenner's Rivertown museum complex. She maintains and runs the wide screen surround screen film equipment and presentations and also produces and mounts the laser light and music productions at the planetarium. Heidi was honored as Outstanding Employee for the month of May, 2009, and then as Outstanding Employee of the quarter in July, 2009. Outstanding Employee 4th Quarter 2009

DURING A MEETING of department heads Wednesday, January 20, 2010, Christine Calamari (center), an executive assistant in the Department of Public Works, was presented a certificate and proclamation by Mayor Ed Muniz declaring her as Outstanding Employee of the 4th Quarter of 2009. Civil Service Director Avie Fontenot (right) looks on. Calamari was cited for her "willingness to work with others," and "taking on any assignment and bringing it to a quick conclusion." She has served in several capacities to date, ranging from assistant council clerk to assistant internal auditor, and has "successfully managed her assignments" with a "pleasant sense of humor." An Employee of the Quarter must be one who performs outstanding service through his or her work displaying a positive and supportive disposition, who projects courtesy and respect towards his or her co-workers, and who exhibits a commitment to public service, a sustained high level of productivity and a consistent quality of work.
Outstanding Employees for November 2009

DURING A DECEMBER 16 MEETING of city department heads, Christine Calamari, an executive assistant in the Department of Public Works, was presented a certificate by CAO Mike Yenni designating her Outstanding Employee for the month of November. Calamari has been with the city for seven years and has served in several capaciities, ranging from assistant council clerk to internal audit office She was selected for her taking on any assignmment and bringing it to a quick conclusion. Her willingness to work with others, her broad experience and pleasant sense of humor were cited as a attributes to her successful management of assignments.
Outstanding Employees for October 2009

DURING A MEETING of department heads November 18, five employees were honored as Outstanding Employees for the month of October. Mayor Ed Muniz presented them certificates acknowledging the distinction. They are (from left) Mark Glorioso of Public Works; Kerri McGovern from Parks & Recreation; June Hoffman from Clerk of Court; Mayor Muniz; Billie Gautreaux and Alan Howland from Code Enforcement. Glorioso was praised for his willingness to perform tasks of all types, "anywhere, anytime...he's just great." McGovern was praised as a "wonderful asset" and for creating special dance routines for zoomba classes. Hoffman, who has been with the city 30 years, was praised for the help she has provided to fellow employees and her "excellent management skills." Gautreaux was praised for her work over the years in several city departments and described as a "great asset" to the city. Howland was cited for the dedication to his job, the extensive research on code enforcement laws and regulations he has used in mounting investigations the city won in court.
City Volunteer Committee Thanks Participants
The City Volunteer Committee thanks each and every one of you for your continued support of its fund-raising efforts. With your help the CVC has raised more than $18,000.00 this year to help benefit The American Cancer Society, The American Lung Association, and The Kenner Food Bank.
The CVC knows times are hard right now and its members appreciate each and every one of you for going out of your way to help someone in need.
The Parade of Prizes was a huge success and Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. the Mayor picked 49 winners. The list of prizes and winners is attached. There were many happy Kenner employees who went home with wonderful prizes.
The CVC would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

MAYOR ED MUNIZ draws a winning ticket Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 16) in the CVC Parade of Prizes to benefit the Kenner Food Bank. More than $1,700 was raised in recent days for the Food Bank. New District 1 Kenner Councilman Sworn in at Monday Ceremony

DURING A SPECIAL CEREMONY, at Kenner City Hall, Judge June B. Darensburg (second from left) administers the oath of office to new District 1 Councilman Gregory Carroll (center) while members of his family participate. They are (from left) his daughter, Gabrielle Whitney Carroll; his wife, Eliza Maria Carroll, and his son, Gregory William Carroll II. The ceremony took place the afternoon of November 30 in the city council conference room at Kenner City Hall and was attended by a host of Councilman Carroll's relatives and several city officials. Carroll was elected in a special election to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Marc Johnson who became a state district judge. The seat was temporarily filled by the interim appointment of Sharon T. Augillard.
Outstanding Employees for September 2009

DURING AN OCTOBER 14 DIRECTOR'S MEETING, Mayor Ed Muniz presented certificates to three Outstanding Employees for the month of September (from left) Norma Treigle, Parks & Recreation Department; Albert Bertolino, Fleet Management Department, and Jamie Gaudet, Information Technology Department. Treigle was also honored as Outstanding Employee of the Third Quarter of 2009. In a proclamation presented to her Thursday night, Muniz cited her willingness to listen and fairness to all employees with whom she comes in contact, her extensive knowledge of all parts of the Recreation department, going above and beyond to carry out a task and the pride she takes in her work. Bertolino was recognized for being a valuable city asset with 30 years on the job and his depth of knowledge about city equipment from large tractors and dozers to lawn mowers and his ability to offer supervisors meaningful support information in the performance of their duties. Gaudet was recognized for his strong support in modernizing the city's computer system, from installation of new equipment and software and new communication lines tying all the equipment together as the system grew. He was also thanked for his friendly cooperation with all city offices during long days that stretched into nights to help bring each facet of the modernization to completion.
CVC MEMBERS BID ADIEU TO LINDA MARSHALL

LINDA MARSHALL (right), who retired Wednesday, Sept. 30, prepares to cut a cake in the likeness of the city seal that was presented to her along with roses by members of the City Volunteer Committee in the Mayor's conference room Tuesday. Marshall a popular employee in the Public Works Department and known as "Miss Kenner," has been a tireless cheer leader, worker and volunteer for Kenner. She has been with the city for 22 ½ years. She said she looks forward to retirement, but not leaving her job and wonderful friends in Kenner government.
Outstanding Employees for August 2009

DURING A MEETING of city directors on September 16, certificates for the city's Outstanding Employees for the month of August 2009 were presented by Mayor Ed Muniz. The recipients for August were Bonnie Moran (left), a museum host in the Community Services Department, who repeatedly demonstrates a willingness to help anywhere she is needed in service to the city, even as an active member of the City Volunteer Committee - often performing several tasks simultaneously. She is a fun-loving, courteous person who works to keep morale high in her department. Also honored was Jay Sprague (inset) in the Information Technology Department, who was recognized because of his promptness, courteousness and genuine passion for his career, as well as an exemplary work ethic, his ability to address info tech problems any time of day or night, and meting the high expectations of his position. He is friendly, polite and knowledgeable. Special recognition went to Linda Marshall (right) , a clerk II in the Public Works Department for her 22 ½ years of service. Described as an extremely helpful employee who always greeted you at the door with a smile on her face. She is a tireless cheerleader for the city.
BAKE SALE RAISES FUNDS FOR AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION

HELPING MOVE THE GOODS, city employees buy some of the sweets at the Sept. 9, 2009, bake sale on behalf of the American Lung Association. The event took place under a tent near the front door of City Hall. Members of the City Volunteer Committee who took part are (from left) Dianne Stamps (City Council office), Wendy Lorenz (Civil Service Dept.), Donna Hahn (Community Services Dept.) June Hoffman (Clerk or Court office), Tiffany Kelly (Personnel Dept.) and Linda Marshall (Public Works). The group raised $275.30. Thanks to Starbucks and the many employees who donated goodies for the event.
KENNER OFFICIALS JOIN ASTHMA WALK KICK OFF

Outstanding Employees for July 2009

HONORED DURING A MEETING of city directors on August 26 were the city's Outstanding Employees for the month of July 2009. They are Nancy Ladner (middle), production coordinator for KTV-Channel 76, and Renee Munoz, application processor in the Personnel Department. City CAO Mike Yenni (left) presented their certificates of recognition. Ladner was recognized for the exceptional way she performs a broad array of duties, deals with the public, monitors local production and schedules announcements on KTV. She was praised for her positive and courteous attitude in the job. Munoz was cited for always being willing to assist co-workers, the outstanding way she deals with the public and the versatility she displays in handling her job tasks. She is reliable and dependable.
EMPLOYEE OF SECOND QUARTER 2009 HONORED

PRIOR TO THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING of July 16, 2009, Mayor Ed Muniz, the Kenner City Council and Citizens Services Director Mary-Sharon Howland honored Heidi Ransom, Planetarium Coordinator as Employee of the Quarter. Ransom was cited for her overall professional operation of the Planetarium; her efforts in producing crowd-pleasing laser light shows, and generating sustaining public support at the Planetarium. OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEEES FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE, 2009

HONORED DURING A MEETING of city directors on July 15 were the city's Outstanding Employees for the month of June 2009. They are Vernon Welman (left), civil service specialist in the Civil Service Department, and Joe Contavasprie (right), zone manager in the Recreation Department. Mayor Ed Muniz presented them with their certificates of recognition during a break in the meeting. Welman was cited for his extra efforts in finding potential employees to place in critical hard to fill city jobs. Contavasprie was saluted for his life saving efforts at a city playground for preventing a child from choking to death.

STERLING TERRY - OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEE 1ST QUARTER, 2009

STERLING TERRY, a maintenance repair technician in the Department of Public Works, has been selected as the Outstanding Employee of the First Quarter of 2009 in a program to recognize individual employees for good work product and positive attitude toward their jobs. MAYOR HONORS "OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEES" FOR MARCH 2009

FOR JOBS WELL DONE, Mayor Ed Muniz presents recognition certificates to Jamie Hastings (left) and Diane Plauche. Hastings, a senior secretary in the city administration, was cited for her years of outstanding service to her job and the city and her willingness to handle a variety of difficult assignments involving research, information gathering and production of documents and reports. Plauche, manager of the Kenner Food Bank, was recognized for her efforts to provide a seamless system of food distribution to the city's needy clients, help build public awareness about the food bank's needs and services and raise funds to help support food bank programs. The presentations were made during a recent meeting of city department heads and senior staff.

KENNER’S “Outstanding Employees” for February were honored Wednesday when Mayor Ed Muniz presented certificates to them during a meeting in the mayor’s conference room. They are (from left) Sterling Terry, a maintenance repair technician in the Department of Public Works; Mayor Muniz; Kevin Hunts, a museum/science center coordinator in the Department of Community Services, and Adam Campo, an executive assistant for the city administration.
Outstanding Employee Program

In January 2009, the City of Kenner commenced an Outstanding Employee Recognition Program to acknowledge the hard work and efforts of some of Kenner's dedicated and committed employees. The first employee to receive such recognition was Elizabeth "Liz" Smith, a Buyer in the Purchasing Department. Pictured above is Elizabeth Smith receiving her certificate for the month of January from Mayor Edmond "Ed" J. Muniz. Congratulations to Liz for being an Outstanding Employee!
Mayor, Council Honor Food Bank Drive Volunteers

At the January 15 Meeting of the City Council, members of the City Volunteer Committee present a check for $20,300 to Mayor Ed Muniz and council members to buy food for the Kenner Food Bank, which ran low on food stuffs for the city's hungry. Certificates of Merit were presented to the city volunteers who worked on the project. Mayor Muniz presented certificates later in his office to J. Kelly Ladner and Nancy Ladner who were in the KTV booth at the council meeting filming for broadcast the next day. Many thanks to all employees, businesses and private citizens who helped raise the money and more than four tons of food. Kenner's food bank helps feed 3,100 persons each month.
We learned January 27 that the N.O. International Airport Rotary Club the day before donated $1,000 to the Food Bank and brought in $200 worth of groceries. Many thanks.
