Hurricane Information

The City of Kenner worked diligently with Jefferson Parish to develop a parish-wide comprehensive emergency procedure plan which was adopted by ordinance and is ready to be implemented if a disaster arises. In the event of an emergency caused by the threat of an approaching hurricane, Mayor Muniz works closely with the Parish President in a joint effort to keep the citizens of Kenner and Jefferson Parish informed with the latest information available.

If an evacuation is ordered due to a hurricane, no shelters will open in the City of Kenner. If any other emergency (gas explosion, fire, etc.) arises and an evacuation is needed, Mayor Muniz has the authority to decide if, when and where any shelters will be opened.

The main objective for the City of Kenner is to prepare its citizens for a state of emergency and educate them on the potential dangers they may encounter. All emergency preparedness procedures are instituted in conjunction with the Jefferson Parish Emergency Preparedness Plan.
