Overview

The Planning and Zoning Commission is a seven-member board that is regulated by the State of Louisiana. The Commission serves as a citizenry board of the local government consisting of appointed members whose functions include advisory aspects of land use and zoning matters. Before any modification to either zoning regulations or the zoning map, the Commission holds a public hearing to determine if the case's merits are within State and City guidelines and conform to sound city planning practices. Each case is voted on at the meeting as a recommendation and then forwarded to the City Council to assist their efforts to render a final decision.

Within 60 days of receiving a complete application, the Planning Department will transmit the application along with its report to the Planning and Zoning Commission and advertise the application in the Official Journal for the next available listed meeting date.
