The Council of the City of Kenner meets at Heritage Hall, 303 Williams Boulevard on the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 pm and the third Friday of each month at 11 am. Should a Council Meeting fall on a legal holiday, the meeting will be re-scheduled by the Council President in accordance with the Home Rule Charter, Council Rules and the consent of the majority of the Kenner City Council.

Overview
The City of Kenner Council serves as the City's legislative body, with the power to enact all ordinances and resolutions. The City Council is also responsible for providing its residents with the latest and most accurate information regarding all City of Kenner business and events. The Kenner City Council is governed by the Home Rule Charter of the City of Kenner.
This legislative branch of city government is represented by two at-large councilmembers and five district councilmembers. The Council is elected in accordance with the election laws of the State of Louisiana and serve a four-year term concurrent with that of the Mayor. Members are limited to two consecutive full terms in the office to which they were elected, exclusive of any partial term created by vacancy.

PUBLIC NOTICE
November 18, 2023 Election
The Kenner City Council intends to vote on a resolution to authorize the calling of an election for the levy and collection of a special tax in the City of Kenner, State of Louisiana, specifically:
the levy and collection of a tax not to exceed eighteen and twenty hundredths (18.20) mills on all property subject to taxation in the City for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the year 2024 and ending in the year 2033, inclusive, in lieu of the not to exceed seven and forty hundredths (7.40) mills approved at an election held on April 24, 2021, with the estimated amount reasonably expected to be collected from the levy of the tax for one year being $10,441,733.27, for the purpose of paying salaries and benefits of fire department personnel, for constructing, improving, equipping, maintaining and/or operating fire department buildings and facilities, and for acquiring, maintaining and operating fire department vehicles and equipment.
The Kenner City Council will vote on this resolution at the Council meeting to be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, beginning at 5:30 P.M. at Heritage Hall, 303 Williams Boulevard, Kenner, Louisiana 70062. The tentative date for this election is Saturday, November 18, 2023.
