1. Do I have to request a new, city owned receptacle (with wheels and a lid)?

No, but it is encouraged. As we begin with a new service provider, we are asking residents to confirm their participation in the recycling program by emailing COKCommunications@Kenner.La.US to ensure that all who wish to recycle are included. 

2. Until I receive a bin, how can I recycle in the meantime?

In the meantime, recyclables can be placed next to your garbage can in a plastic or paper bag on your scheduled recycle pick-up day (2nd day of collection).

3. Can I get the previously used green recycle bin removed?

Yes, if you would like this bin removed, pleases let us know by emailing COKcommunicatons@Kenner.La.Us or by calling 504-468-7240 and we will have the bin removed.  

4. How do I arrange for IV Waste to pick up my recycling bin?

IV Waste has not given the city nor any contractor permission to remove or handle their cans. We encourage any resident with this encounter to call IV Waste at (504) 224-8471 and request that their can be removed.

5. What steps can I take if I need an extra recycling bin?

The city will only provides one recycling container that is included with curbside collection services. However, alternative options can include utilizing the previously used small green recycling bins for overflow, or you may purchase your own recycling bin. The recycling cart must have “RECYCLING” written on the container. Simply place it next to your Kenner recycling bin on your regular recycling day, which is the 2nd day of your garbage pickup day. 

6. What is the process for disabled residents?

Residents with disabilities may utilize the side door service for recycling. To ensure this service is provided, please call 504-468-7240 or email COKCommunications@Kenner.La.US.

7. Are there other ways in which this transition is being communicated?

Yes, in addition to various social media channels, this information has been provided on the home page of the city’s website, the city’s government access channel, (channel 76 for Cox customers and channel 99 for AT&T customers), and Kenner residents can expect an informational flier to be delivered.
