Public and Private Gathering Permits

This application is required for any planned event in the City of Kenner that involves a gathering of 100 or more people, whether on public or private property. It is also required for any event that includes a request to block or close a public street, regardless of the number of attendees.

The information provided will help determine whether your event qualifies as a public or private gathering and guide the appropriate review and approval process.

Please complete all relevant sections and upload any required documents. Applications are reviewed in accordance with Article X, Section 10-200 of the Kenner Code of Ordinances. Permit fees and departmental approvals will be determined upon review.

  1. Public or Private Gathering Permit

    To apply for a Public or Private Gathering Permit in the City of Kenner, please complete the following application form. Ensure all required information is provided to facilitate prompt processing.

    To help ensure a smooth process and allow time to address any questions or concerns, we kindly recommend beginning the permitting process at least 60 days (2 months) before your event. Submitting early is in everyone’s best interest and helps us better serve you and the public.

  2. Application Fee & Billing

    non-refundable $10 application fee is required to initiate routing and administrative review of your permit request.

    Additional fees—such as permit charges, facility rentals, or public safety support—will be calculated based on your application and invoiced separately after departmental review. Payment instructions will be provided once your total fees are finalized.

    Note: No permit will be issued until all applicable fees are paid in full.

Per Sec 10-200 of the Kenner Code of Ordinances (h), permit fees are calculated as follows: either ten (10) percent of anticipated gross income to be derived from the said public gathering, or two dollars ($2.00) per person anticipated in gross attendance at said public gathering, or two hundred dollars ($200.00) per occurrence (date), Permit fee is determined by whichever is greatest. In no event shall the permit fee be less than two hundred dollars ($200.00).

    Nonprofit organizations with valid 501(c) tax-exempt status and domiciled in the City of Kenner may be eligible for a temporary City Alcohol Permit to sell low-alcohol content beverages at special events. This permit is granted by City Council via resolution and is only available if net proceeds are used exclusively for charitable purposes.

    Applications must be submitted through the Department of Inspections and Code Enforcement. Additional fees and insurance requirements may apply.

    This permit is separate from any required State ATC permit and is only available to eligible nonprofits.

    I hereby certify that the information provided is true and correct, and that I am properly authorized by the named organization to make this application. I am aware that a State permit must also be obtained to sell alcoholic beverages at this event, and that State law allows only twelve (12) three (3) day alcoholic beverage permits in a calendar year.

  32. (if the street closure is approved, the City of Kenner will deliver the appropriate barricades. These barricades shall be returned to the same area that they were dropped, in order for them to be collected after the event.)

     

  33. Block Party Affidavit

      APPLICANT will not hold the block party until all neighbors and businesses on the affected block(s) are notified in writing using the city provided notice in accordance with City of Kenner Code of Ordinances, Chapter 10, Section 10-200(b).

      APPLICANT agrees to protect, defend, indemnify, save, and hold harmless the City of Kenner, all City Departments, Agencies, Boards and Commissions, its officers, agents, servants, and employees, including volunteers, from and against any and all claims, demands, expense, and liability arising out of injury or death to any person or the damage, loss, or destruction of any property which may occur or in any way grow out of any act or omission of APPLICANT, their agents, servants, and employees, or any and all costs, expenses, and/or attorney fees incurred by APPLICANT as a result of any claims, demands, and/or causes of action, except for those claims, demands, and/or causes of action arising out of the negligence of the City of Kenner, all City Departments, Agencies, Boards, Commissions, its agents, representatives, and/or employees.

    1. Insurance Requirements: *

      Insurance requirements vary depending on the type of event. Parades, festivals, and other large public gatherings require Commercial General Liability insurance with a minimum limit of $1,000,000.  If beer, wine and/or liquor are sold at an event, a minimum limit of $1,000,000 Liquor Liability insurance is required.  If the event charges an entry fee and beer, wine and/or liquor is included, a minimum limit of $1,000,000 Liquor Liability insurance is required.  If amusements rides and/or inflatables are scheduled at an event, evidence of Commercial General Liability insurance with a minimum limit of $1,000,000 is required of the amusement rides vendor and/or the inflatables vendor. A certificate of insurance, evidencing the required coverages, naming the City of Kenner as an Additional Insured and providing a Waiver of Subrogation in favor of the City of Kenner must be provided with the permit application.    If insurance coverage is not secured at the time of application, a letter of intent from the insurance provider must be submitted for the application to be processed. A copy of the certificate of insurance must then be provided no later than 96 hours (4 days) prior to the event. Block parties generally do not require insurance, and smaller gatherings may also be exempt at the City’s discretion.

    2. Police Detail Requirements:*

      The Kenner Police hourly detail rate is a minimum of $40.00 an hour with a 4-hour minimum per officer and $50.00 an hour with a 4-hour minimum per officer for all traffic related details or the production for television and movie purposes. If the detail falls on a declared holiday the minimum hourly rate is $60.00 an hour with a 4-hour minimum per officer.  The officer is to be paid directly by either check, cash or direct deposit at the conclusion of the detail.
